Description
Thompson's Lake Campground at Thacher State Park, is a popular campground and recreation area. The park is situated along the Helderberg Escarpment and provides a marvelous panaroma of the Hudson-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondack and Green Mountains.
In addition to its wooded campsites, the campground features a sandy beach, mixed hardwood and conifer forests, limestone outcroppings, and open fields. Recreational opportunities include a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a playing field, swing sets, carry-in boat access, rental kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards, fishing areas, and nature trails. Interpretive and recreational programs are offered for campers throughout the summer. During the winter, visitors can cross-country ski and ice fish.

Thompson's Lake Campground is located 18 miles southwest of Albany.
Recreation:
Beach swimming, boating, fishing (and wintertime ice fishing) park-organized recreation activities are the campground's major activities. There are over 25 additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.
The Emma Treadwell Thacher Center is located in the park and is accessible to campers. The center offers exhibits, interactive displays, trails for hiking and skiing, and educational programs.

Carry-in boat access, boat rentals, campsites, dumping stations, a nature trail, a playground, playing fields, and showers are among the amenities available.
