Description
Stony Brook State Park's terrain comprises hilly woodlands; a deep gorge with rugged cliffs overlooking three waterfalls; and fascinating rock formations. Tent and trailer campsites are scattered in the woodlands above the gorge in the upper, or south, end of the park. Visitors can hike rim, gorge, or nature trails, play tennis on park courts, picnic, or swim in the park's stream-fed guarded swimming pool. In winter, three miles of cross-country trails are available for skiers.
Geography:
Stony Brook State Park is located 2 miles south of Dansville, in Steuben County. Take 390 South to exit 4 then take 36 South.
Recreation:
Activities include hiking, hunting, tennis, and cross-country skiing. The park has several lovely waterfalls to visit.
Facilities:
Campsites with restrooms and showers, group camping areas, food concessions, a nature trail, picnic tables and pavilions, a playground, playing fields, and tennis courts make this a park full of appealing amenities. Firewood is sold by a nearby private vendor. The park has one dumping station.
